University Awards

The University of Oregon first began recognizing citizen involvement in 1887 with the inauguration of the honorary degree. That first award was soon accompanied by others to recognize outstanding service to the institution. By honoring community leaders, UO alumni, and friends, the university was recognizing the important role that volunteers played in advancing the university’s mission and core values. That tradition continues today, with the presentation of numerous awards at the institution level as well as at the individual school or college level.
