Public and Government Affairs
Public and Government Affairs (PGA) supports the University of Oregon’s teaching, research, and community service missions through coordinated communication efforts, advocacy, and building relationships with individuals, communities, public institutions, and businesses.
Public and Government Affairs enhances and preserves the university’s public image, highlights the university’s achievements and milestones, motivates supporters to act on behalf of the university, promotes university initiatives with state, local, and federal governments, and fosters mutually supportive relations between the university and the communities it serves.
Betsy Boyd, associate vice president for public and government affairs, leads the unit, while also overseeing federal affairs.
The work units within Public and Government Affairs are:
- Government and Community Relations coordinates the University of Oregon’s legislative and advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Oregon Quarterly is the university’s award-winning magazine, founded in 1919. The magazine features strong graphic presentations and thought-provoking stories about the University of Oregon and the Northwest.
