Driving Economic Recovery

The University of Oregon is a potent economic engine for the state. In FY2007-8, the university is estimated to have generated more than $1.5 billion in direct and indirect expenditures. That means $20 was pumped into the state's economy for every $1 the university received in state taxpayer support.

Private gifts also strengthen the university and the state. Campaign Oregon, the most successful capital campaign in the state's history, far exceeded its $600 million goal with more than $840 million raised by the end of 2008.

As it generates this incredible return on the state's investment, the University of Oregon continues to pursue its most important mission-preparing the next generation of Oregon's leaders. We provide students with the critical thinking and leadership skills necessary to prepare them for successful careers in business, education, and government service.

In these uncertain economic times, the University of Oregon will help drive the state's recovery. The university is an economic and intellectual powerhouse that serves the entire state.
